Any stuff from Kate Bush's most recent album "ariels".. the second disc is more relaxing.. or perhaps Tortoise.. very vivid intrumental music.. Another magnificent album is Sung Tongs by Animal Collective... or if you like folk music .. try Vashti Bunyan.. I have a wide arrange of music.. what genre are you mostly interested in?

one of my favorite collections of music to listen to (other than my rock lol) is by someone named Gary Stadler. If I need something calming and peaceful and something I can easily fall asleep to, I listen to him. His first CD Fairy of the Woods is completely instrumental. Then he moved onto Fairy Nightmagic and Fairie Heartsong, where he started to introdice vocalists. (He spells faerie several different ways on this CDs, I can't remember which version he used for which CD).

Awww... now I wanna go out and buy some music!!
The only people I recognized so far is Yanni and Kate Bush. There are just too many musicians and too little time! :)
I love Kitaro. I especially LOVE his "Silk Road". It has been a meditation staple of mine for a lot of years. I also love disc 2 of the Narada Decade album (actually less for meditation and more for atmosphere, but I'm so familiar with it that I have a deep meditation I use it for. When I CAN!!) And, of course, "Jonathan Livingston Seagull" has a soundtrack (and a movie, in case you didn't know! DVD available in UK, I think. Otherwise VHS.) by Neil Diamond, and (believe it or not) it is truly beautiful (for those of you who think Neil Diamond is not exactly soothing...) :)!
If you can still find it, the Ultra Meditation (Zygon) series was good. Nature sounds and tones and bells. Designed to cause different brain waves (alpha, theta, delta). And, along those sorts of lines, any Tibetan bells. I just LOVE that!!
Then there's just the sounds of the earth. I love rain, the ocean waves, babbling brooks (Do you see a pattern here? You'd almost think I was Aquarius or something! But really. The sound of water just DOES something for me!)

personnal favorite is Enigma-Man in a mirrow- alot of the songs are very calming but their are some that are intense. and during meditation when it gets to the intense parts i can feels all my chakras begining to vibrate on higher levels. all in all just makes for a good meditation.

well, the nice thing is a lot of artists have myspace pages so you can check them out without having to buy the CD and hope that the person who referred you has the same taste as you. lol

I've been pretty fortunate with the artists who friend me... they're almost always something I really like! Though, because I want to keep my friends list MOSTLY to actual people who really want to be FRIENDS of a sort, I only leave bands as friends for a short time - just so maybe a few others might see them and check them out, but not so I have 200 bands in my friends list! (Want me to advertise you forever, I might have to become an advertiser who charges!) There are a couple I keep, though. :)

I like Sufjan Stevens for calming me down.
Also a band I used to live with just released their first CD, and they've definitely gotten better since we parted ways: HalfDozenDown you can check them out on myspace music. I feel the same sensation Brandon describes when he's meditating and the music is getting intense when these guys play (especially during this one song called "The Verdict", great energy).
I got introduced to another band these guys are friends with on the weekend, and they are also awesome: What the Thunder Said. I believe they also have a myspace.
Let me know what you guys think, or even better, let them know. I'm sure they'd appreciate the feedback.
Peace and Love,

David Arkenstone is great and I really enjoy (bag)pipes and drums.
Otherwise I listen to positive rock and roll. Tesla, U2, Incubus, Chevelle....happy, inspirational rockers.
I have David Arkenstone's "Pool of Radiance" on my profile. I just LOVE that!!
I'm totally with you on positive rock. (Although I admit to liking some of the harder stuff sometimes, too! But HARDLY meditation music! hahaha) Remember Bon Jovi? LOVE THEM! Never had an unkind thing to say in even ONE of their songs.
Incubus is AMAZING.

Ok... you can NOT call this traditional meditation music or anything!! hahaha But my honey and I were sharing a night of music. He somehow manages to pull out stuff I haven't heard in YEARS, and that I LOVE so much....
Funny thing is... he's 9 years younger than me (yeah, I'm a studette! hahaha), and he just KNOWS the songs I've loved in my life - and some of them have been very obscure!
Anyway, tonight was a Bee Gees and Andy Gibb night. GAWD I LOVE THESE GUYS! Lotsa hits, some not-so-hits. "Tragedy", "Words and Music", "Nights on Broadway", "If I Can't Have You" (also love the Yvonne Elliman version!), "Flowing Rivers", "Everlasting Love", "I Just Want to Be Your Everything", "Fanny Be Tender With My Love", "How Deep Is Your Love", "Love Me", "Spirits Having Flown", "Winds of Change". It was just a wonderful time of enjoying some incredible and generally speaking uplifting music!
Now we've moved on to Al Stewart - "Roads to Moscow". Love him, too. "Year of the Cat"!
OH NO. The next song. Leif Garrett - "I Was Made For Dancing". HAHAHA OK. Maybe the man knows me TOO well. hahaha Excuse me now. I'm gonna go smack him one. hahaha
:)
