To start another line of exploration, I thought I'd see who here has had any experience working with the energies of crystals.

I have been into working with crystals on a personal basis for many years. I find the subtle energies are very effective! I use them to enhance meditation, for healing, for inspiration, for information. Anything, really! I think of them as living individuals, and we definitely have a relationship! ("OK, this one's pretty kooky!" hahaha)

If you have experience with crystals or just want to know more about the subject, please feel free to join into the discussion!

Wonderful! I know there was a time that I thought crystal-using mediums were a little wacky. Then one day I decided to start collecting quartz, just because I LOVE sparkly things (does anyone remember the crow in "The Secret of Nimh" who collected all things sparkly? That's ME!! hahaha) THEN I realized that in holding the crystals something seemed different. I could feel my emotions more fully, think more clearly. So I started to look into what all those wacky mediums were really DOING with all their sparkly little rocks.

It has been quite a journey of discovery. I really enjoy my time in meditation with a stone. They each have their own personalities - even of those of the same type, different crystals have different energies to share.

It's a large subject, really. So, if you have some specific information you would like, please ask! I, again, am NO expert, by any means (I say that a lot, don't I? I don't feel like much of an expert on anything, really... just learning and growing...), but I think I know enough to be of some use to the novices. :) I will come in here from time to time and share a little bit about different types of crystals and stones - their metaphysical properties and such. But if there is anything in particular I can answer, I will certainly be more than happy to share!

This is about altered crystals.

I have mixed feelings about crystals that have been faceted by anything other than nature. I LIKE some of them (mostly because of how they look), but they don't always seem to "feel" right to me (almost like they're "injured"?! sometimes or at other times almost nothing at all).

What do you guys think of it? I know it shouldn't change the internal structure of the crystal itself and its inherent energy properties. I almost wonder if it isn't something I'm doing myself just because I "prefer" them to be in their natural condition.

And I don't seem to have the same issue with stones that have been tumbled. Weird, huh?

I never really thought about it like that before! I'm kinda a weirdo about my stones, thinking of them as individual entities... and I know *I* wouldn't want to be artificially shaped into another form! hahahaha But you're absolutely right about the tumbling. Silly me!

The Crystal of the Day

I thought, since we started a crystal forum, that to keep it alive I would post a new crystal in here every so often to talk about (if you wanna...) :) I'll call it the crystal of the day (though it might only be every week I actually post a crystal to discuss). I will be quoting from Melody's "Love is in the Earth", the most fantastic crystal book I have found to date.

The crystal of the day today is Citrine. There's not any real reason for that being the first one, just that I've been working with mine a little bit lately. :) From Melody:

Citrine - Astrological signs of Gemini, Aries, Libra & Leo

Citrine is a variety of quartz, the colour being in the range from yellow to golden brown to burnt amber.

It is one of the two minerals on the planet which does not hold and accumulate negative energy, but dissipates and transmutes it, working out problems on both the physical and subtle levels. It, hence, never needs clearing or cleansing.

It has also been reported that citrine is one of the stones to be called the "merchant's stone"; placing a cluster or a crystal of citrine in one's cash box has produced more income for the merchant. It not only assists the merchant in acquiring wealth, but helps to maintain the state of wealth.

This mineral is useful for balancing the yin-yang energy and for aligning the chakras with the ethereal plane.

It activates, opens, and energizes the navel and solar plexus chakras, directing, via personal power, creativity, and intelligent decisiveness, the energy necessary to enhance the physical body. It stimulates both mental focus and endurance.

It emits an elevated energy which provides one with supplemental initiative coupled with emotional balance. It stimulates the intuitive self and promotes contact with the higher forces of intelligence.

It also illuminates the energy of the root chakra, delivering both comfort and optimism. It can help one to dispense with the fundamental level of fear. It further promotes a radiance from within the self, culminating in a constant happy disposition. It brightens even the darkest corner of ones perceived reality, and helps one to "laugh without restraint".

It is quite efficient in conveying, when necessary, information relative to the appropriate aspects of survival.

It also allows for clarification of problems related to the realms of the intellect and emotions.

It influences, in a positive manner, the areas of education, business pursuits, and interpersonal relationships. It is an excellent stone for smoothing family or group problems and, subsequently, producing cohesiveness within the associative members. It acts similarly to the cutting edge of a sword, penetrating problems and expediting solutions.

Citrine, especially in the faceted form, stimulates the crown chakra, allowing for synthesis between the intellect and total perfection; it is, therefore, quite helpful in problem solving, for facilitating recognition of resolutions to mental conundrums, and for promoting mental awareness on a moment-to-moment basis. It is said to stimulate openness and to accelerate the wakening of the mind.

It is an excellent stone for clearing the aura and for aligning the auric body with the physical structure, diminishing the "muddy" areas in both the aura and the physical body. It can act to stabilize the emotions, to dispel anger, and to encourage one to "look toward the sunrise", the freshness of beginnings, and the reality of excellence.

It is said to have been one of the stones used in the breastplate of the high priest.

In addition, there is a formation of Citrine/Smokey Quartz (sometimes with clear quartz) with clean definition between the colors, which has been found in Brasil. This alliance of forces merges the energy of all three minerals and for a dynamic healing stone. The citrine acts to cleanse the energies of the smokey and clear quartz, whole the smokey quartz provides grounding for all endeavors. The faceted form provides a distinct and bright energy for application to all aspects, combining the singular energies of the three minerals to provide an energy greater than the sum.

It can aid in digestion, can assist in the treatment of digestive disorders, and can promote the circulation of the blood. It has been used in the treatment of degenerative disorders and to facilitate the diminishment of growths.

It has also been used to increase visual abilities, to balance the thyroid, and to activate the thymus.

Vibrates to the number 6.

i dont know what kinda rock this was but my friend got it from so shop in a mall, he bought one that was clear and one that was dark, the weird thing about them was when held together they would warm in your hands and the clear one over time became dingy and hard to see through, anyway figured this would be the place to find some insight on it.

I honestly have no experience with crystals, but I find them to be uplifting. I noticed someone mentioned a "quartz"---those used to facinate the crap out of me when I was little. What a crazy miracle it is to have a rock cracked open to find jewls inside? I'd like to learn more about them for sure!!!

I love citrine...its also the birthstone of Nov. now that topaz is more rare. I love natural occuring citrine...its so pretty!

There is a really cool jewlery shop in old towne alexandria here in VA. If anyone ever comes in this neck of the woods. They have really nice ladies who will tell you if the stone is natural, man made or dyed. I agree that some jewlery just doesnt give off the same "energy" as natural stones...although most times I find out they are indeed man made. ;)

Hard to tell what the stones were from the description, as there are many light and dark stones and crystals. Some stones will warm or cool in the hand as a reaction to the energies they are transmuting. (Usually, from my experience, a "negative" reaction, where unnecessary or unwanted energies are being REMOVED from the bodies creates a sense of coolness to the stone, while the influx of energies to heal or to transform the bodies will create a "positive" or warming reaction in the stone).

Some stone WILL interact "negatively" with each other. The energies of one will negate or nullify the energies within the other - "draining" it. I am not totally up to speed with which ones will have this effect on which other ones, but I know it is possible. That's why, if you use your stones for meditation or healing, it's very important to know enough about them to keep them in places that are beneficial to their energies. Basically, if you know what a stone is used for, try not to put it in direct contact with another that is used for the opposite purpose. (Just for instance, clear crystal quartz is used for clarification and purification, and is an incoming energy stone for the most part - though can most definitely be used as an amplifier for transmission; while a smoky quartz is generally used to flush negativity from the bodies or for grounding - an "outward" as opposed to "inward" flow. These two may interact in a "negative" way to each other, and should be stored separately).

There may be other reasons for this effect of which I am not aware. If anyone else knows something about this, please share!!

:)

Synchronious happening....I found my Citrine today! I wasn't really looking for it, but I came across it in my secret pocket in my purse. I didn't know it was there! And here we are with this awesome insight into this very stone! I'll have to do a little pow wow with it (while reading the description above) now as I'm sure I found it for a reason!

Also,
I want to correct my previous post. Replace Infinite with Kyanite! Kyanite is the chakra healing all positive stone.....

I like your idea Quirin! It's a good way to showcase a stone and share some valuable information!
Maybe if I have the stone you feature I will do a pow wow with each of them. It'll be fun! =)

Be Well.

Wonderful, Inspired! I hope you and your friend, Citrine, have a wonderful reunion! (I do that all the time... I sometimes find some of my small tumbled in the laundry! Pockets are wonderful until you forget you have them!!)

Kyanite is a fabulous crystal. I almost always have one at the ready. I need balancing a lot. :) I have quite a bit of blue, some pink (though I keep thinking it's called something else... can't remember WHAT, though!), and a piece of green that is my favorite.

Thanks for enjoying the idea! Since there are obviously some here that are into the use of crystals and stones, I thought it only made sense to create a more learning sort of environment about them for those who are still growing in the area. :) And, YES! Make contact with your existent friends as we go along, so that you are more aware of their abilities! And, if you don't have such a friend in your midst, remember Ebay! (grin) God I love Ebay.

What you're referring to is called a "geode". It is generally basically spherical in shape, and when "opened" (usually by lapidary saw), there are crystal growths inside. They can be many different types of crystal - some are: clear quartz, rose quartz, amethyst (which is a type of quartz), ruby, sapphire, calcite, citrine, smoky quartz...and sometimes the stone itself that the crystals are encased within will have taken on the attributes of agate. I am sure there are others.

They ARE fascinating, and they are all SO DIFFERENT! My FAVORITES are the ones that grow really large and take on a somewhat conical shape and are usually filled with amethyst and sometimes some clear quartz or citrine (among others, of course!). They are called "cathedrals". I aspire to owning one someday. (They are a little on the pricey side!!)
