That is an excellent question. As a former director, I say that both are of interest to UO Chess. Over the past two years we have had guest instructors such as Morgan Griffith and Oleg Zaikov (some of the highest rated players in the State of Oregon) facilitate discussions. UO Chess is in a state of infancy and it is of great interest to us what the demands of UO students in addition to the surrounding community are. If you are interested in what UO Chess has to offer feel free to stop by! And by all means let us know what your thoughts are!

Meeting lengths are generally determined by the level of interest/attendance on a given day. I've seen meetings last from 5pm-11pm, and other that last from 5pm-7pm.

I'm sure there will be "advanced" player there! Introduce yourself to Nick when you get there!

When is the next meeting for the U of O chess club. I’d like to stop by and learn more about the club and playing chess on campus. I’ve been playing chess since I was a young lad in the 1980s. I was a member of the North Bend High School Chess club from 1990-94. Looking to get some more games under my belt again.
