the new one is so similar to the old one.. they usually screw up the remakes by making them completely different or just lame.. this new one was awesome but Wes Craven's direction of the '77 version had to be the best.. it was completely shocking and controversial for the time and even today.. plus, no-one can be freakier or as visually awesome as the amazing michael berryman =D

The effects and overall feel will subdue the old one.

Fun facts, Wes Craven is the executive producer on this with creative input, so it won't stray too much, perhaps only stylistically and in the cinematography. Also, this was filmed in Morocco, not actually the new mexico desert, they were going to use up by palmdale california and bring in the team from cursed (for the most part, and before the weinsteins butchered that movie).

Wow - I hated the old one - I thought it was wicked lame - I remember thinking when I watched it that the movie would be ridiclously cool remade because it was some cool ideas, but way too corny the way it was done - oh well - I'll find out in a few months I suppose - when someone else buys it.

I saw a screening of it the other night and all I have to say is HOLY COW!!! I'm 35 and remember the original...while it was creepy, the modern version will really make you uncomfortable. Have fun Rubies!
