I am constantly thinking about Oz in light of a Christian worldview and I'd love to hear others thoughts as well. It's always cool to get a different perspective on anything.

Have you taken a look at the book or musical "Wicked"?
If the wizard is a flase prophet, perhaps Dorothy's quest to kill the wicked witch (who may not be so wicked after all) is simply a distraction from the right path

I am only looking at The Wizard of Oz itself because nothing else really can work seemlessly with it. (even the other Oz books) I've heard Wicked is really cool but I am now sort of Oz purist. Unfortunately since I haven't had chance to see or read Wicked I can't comment intelligently on that but I can say that she is Wicked and it is contrary to the evidence in the Wizard of Oz to say otherwise.
You are right in saying she was a distraction but she was one that had to be overcome as we all have to overcome distractions and obstacles in our lives. Ultimately she was a symbol for personal sin as opposed to the universal sin (of humanity) of which the Wicked Witch of the East is a symbol. The WWW sought to destroy the friends but ultimately evil was not able to overcome good. The WWW is eventually overcome herself with water which is a symbol of God's Word in the Bible and that is how we are instructed to overcome personal sin. Let me know what you think and why you would think she may not be evil. I'd be curious to know.

I've actually had quite a few prophetic words - visions that I've received from the Lord about the Wizard of OZ. The Lord will often times use it to speak to peoples lives. I think this is an awesome idea and so does God. An excellent analogy. I think it's awesome how God will use movies to speak to us even when they aren't necessarily Christian movies. He is so much bigger and far beyond the physical universe - above all of his creation. Above creativity - emotions and things in the spiritual realm. God bless you. May he bless you and bless you with clear direction, insight, wisdom and understanding straight from his heart to yours. May he make his way known in a very tangibly in the name of Jesus Christ the only true Lord of everything and things that aren't everything, amen.

Thanks. I just finished a Bible Study at the prison I volunteer at using the Oz book as a basis and even though the group was skeptical at first they all seemed to see the value of using Oz as a starting place when we were done. It is so rich and Biblically solid.

I think it’s awesome that you’re writing a book on this! I’m trying to convince my church to do this as a play, and during intermission, or after the play, have a sermon on the christian symbolism in the story. Everyone loves that story, regardless of what they believe in. It’s a play that could attract people from far and wide without shoving Christianity down people’s throats.
I don’t know if this can be interpreted as a sign, but I walked into my living room the other day and saw a book sitting on the table with ruby slippers on it. I picked it up and realized it’s a book by a christian author called "God has a dream for your life." Come to find out, my aunt lent it to my mom and had no idea that I was trying to persuade my church to do ’oz’ as a play. The book talks about the movie and how it relates to your walk with God.

That is so cool. I just ordered the book you referenced. I have not run across it anywhere as of yet. If you need any help with getting together the christian connection to Oz, let me know. I’d be happy to help.
Grace and peace,
Mark
