Been to a good gig recently? Dying to tell someone about it? Well, we're all ears here...
Last big gig for me was the Red Hot Chili Peppers at Don Valley Stadium. Great music, although I got wacked in the face, trampled on, covered in beer and my clothes ripped. :-( I do love my folky gigs, you know that you're gonna come home in one piece, lol!
Local gig - The Venkman Heist at West Street Live, Sheffield. Kirk and the boys did a fantastic set!
Upcoming gigs I'm going to - I'm reviewing Juliette Lewis and the Licks at Sheffield Leadmill along with Humanzi (my latest punky find) and interviewing the latter. Should be good! Then reviewing and photographing Orson at Sheffield Octagon later in the month. Looking forward to it all as I've enjoyed all their recording so far.

Haven't been able to get to any gigs lately, too much work :-(
I AM looking forward to November 14th though. My daughter and I have 8th row center seats for Alison Krauss and Union Station here in Tucson, AZ. She is another one of my all time favorites and we have been waiting and waiting for her to visit here!

Wow! I'm jealous. That will be an excellent gig for sure. I missed her on her UK tour last time, didn't find out about it until it was too late. Let us know how it goes!

I know this is sad but my next gig is going to be Toyah, ABC and Howard Jones!!!
I know but it's the music that i grew up with!!! besides they will look older than me!!
But looking forward to Madness in December to get the Christmas spirit going...

I've got a great month of gigs coming up, starting at the end of October- Kate Rusby, The Dubliners, Dick Gaughan, Ralph McTell and Shawn Colvin... phew!! We're also thinking about catching one of The Pogues Christmas concerts!
I've never seen Alison Krauss live.... she's on my 'to do' list!

Have to say, Humanzi with Juliette and The Licks were both brilliant. Humanzi's front man Shaun is a top guy and a very entertaining bloke. And Juliette Lewis... wow she's gotta be one of the most engergetic and original front women I've seen! BLOODY BRILLIANT!

Gigs? Oooo, so many to recall... Porcupine Tree (supported by Paatos) last night! Very good, they played a mix of new and old stuff. They're a prog/rock band, very good music.
Other top gigs... Anything including Mostly Autumn and John Otway, whether they be individual gigs or a festival (The Rockinbeerfest, no less!)

Went to review Orson last night in Sheffield, who we're pretty damn good. Their support, Gliss, were awful - I've never seen an audience so bored in my life. BOO!
However Orson were great... and that's all that really matters.

How's everyone's gigs been going lately?
I've been to see The Automatic and Lily Allen (tonight), both to review and photograph.
The Automatic were pretty damn good. Magical live performance, so energetic. Their album and TV performances don't do them justice.
Lily Allen kept still so I could easily snap her, lol! She had a good band and the sound was really tight, but her imput was somewhat limited at the side of them. They covered a lot of what she was doing. Not that I'm dissing the first lady of MySpace, but it wasn't Lily that really sparkled when she had such a good band.

I went to see Kate Rusby on Sunday night, and she was just wonderful, and her band were amazing. There's a full review in my blog!

Ooh I like Kate! I have her 'Hourglass' and 'Sleepless' albums. I saw her live at the Trinity Theatre and Arts Centre down in Tunbridge Wells, Kent some years ago. I thoroughly enjoyed her performance! I must have a look at her more recent stuff when I get time!

Went to see guitarist Jon Gomm at the New Barrack Tavern in Sheffield last Saturday 18th. That was fun and - different! He plays a modified acoustic with pick-ups fitted to it all over the place! So he amplifies the strings and uses the other pick-ups for percussive effects. This all together with various effects pedals and electronics. He's amazing to watch, though if you close your eyes and listen, you maybe start wishing he'd play something 'normal'. Still, quite an experience to see.

Brilliant! Jon's a great performer isn't he? We've done a few gigs together now as we're both represented by BPAS Event Entertainment that's how we met. Glad you enjoyed the gig!
I went to see the Levellers last Thursday at Sheffield Octagon and they were brilliant. Unfortunately I left feeling slightly crushed and battered by crowd surfers and random people just being stupid. My hearing didn't recover for a few days again :S and I'm now in the process of buying some earplugs! lol!
Great music though...

Another Rockinbeerfest's gone past now! Okay, Cambridge Rock Festival, I prefer RBF as a name.
Lots of good stuff, Thunder, John Otway, Australian Pink Floyd Show (Really packed that one!), The Reasoning, Limehouse Lizzy... Long, long list!
Oh, and someone called Charlie Barker, anyone heard of her? :P
