my take so far:
The Latin Team: -1 because they have a Fat Alberto on their team
The Asian Team: -1 because they have a Confucious on their team
The African Team: -1 because they have Fat Alberto's twin on their team
The Caucasian Team: +1 because they're all young and fit

Go Asian Power tribe! I Love how we (Sorry I can't help but say "we") were trailing the Hispanic Tribe and then when it came down to the puzzle solving stage we blew through that and took the lead to win. How very stereotypical.
I think the losing tribe should select one member from each of the other 3 tribes to go to exile island. That way they can have some inter-racial bonding.
Great episode though.

So, are there names for the sons of Blacks and Asians or Asians an Hispanics? :-) We have some interesting names for multi-racial children in Brazil...
On a more Survivor-ish note: despite the buzz of segregation and racism by grouping people in terms of race, I think it's an awesome idea! Not only from the audience point of view (to make it interesting), but it does address in a very basic way the whole concept of "is there a race superior to another?"
Blacks, for example, have for long been seen as more athletic, and Asians more intelligent. Yes, I do know it's a TV show and there's a lot more involved than a true sampling of the people, but it does make it more interesting. I just hope people don't take the outcome that seriously (if two Hispanics make it to the final two and people start claiming the others are inferior...).
So, do you think next season we'll have Survivor divided by Religion? :-) I wonder how someone could prove they're Jewish, for example. Lots of peanut butter challenges, I imagine! :-)

The whole show was so stereotypical and stupid. It was so well edited that I must say. I gotta follow next week's episode.

Looks like the white crew might screw themselves out of the game, literally. They're already hooking up with each other...just like i've noticed on shows like The Real World, they'll 'get together' , have drama, then fall apart...bad survival technique. I think the Asians and the Latinos will be leading the way...Culturally, they may be more accustomed to working in teams. The white tribe doesn't look like they have had to struggle, suffer, survive a day in their collective lives, waaayyy too fit and pretty. I don't put it as a race thing, but it definitely is a culture thing...

not that i watch survivor to begin w/ but i don't really think the issue is that the producers rigged the event so that the caucasian team would win. the real problem is that they have the show to begin with, segregating by race. shame on the network, but shame on every team participating in this obvious exploitation. minorities included.
any stereotype than anyone ever had about any ethnic group is going to be futher amplified by one of the most watched shows on TV.

I've never gotten the whole hoopla about getting rid of stereotypes. They are there because they are at least partially true. I've never heard a stereotype that didn't have real backing. A lot of black people do, in fact, like fried chicken. What the hell is wrong with that? I don't see whats wrong with stereotypes in general. It's just a way of binding things together in your mind. We do it all the time. Telephone numbers, names with faces, etc.
Where there is a problem is when some people think a stereotype pertains to ALL the people in a given catogory, which is just imbicilic. So don't hate the stereotype, hate the people who don't have the brain capacity to differentiate one human from another. People who don't understand the word "exception."
It's not the stereotypes fault!

dunno about you, but when i meet someone, the last thing i want is for someone outside my ethnicity to try to "identify" w/ me based on preconcieved notions of what they think a vietnamese person is or should be. it's insulting.
"oh, i love peking duck (southern china) and sweet and sour chicken (americanized chinese). sushi is great too (japanese/korean)!"
"do you eat dog (korean)?"
the problem is people generalize too much. not all asians are the same, not all latins/hispanics are same, but you seem to think that they are. you try to talk to a japanese person about korean history, you're gonna get slapped.
you're trying to make this too much of a black and white thing and forgetting all the colors in between man.
