I am formally resigning my position as Treasurer of Hillel Moorpark College, albeit very much tardily, for the reasons of following:
1.)My entrance into a 4-year university
2.)My participation in Hillel SDSU/San Diego
3.)My wish not to be held furtherly responsible for ongoings of a club I am no longer present to
4.)My desire to clarify my leave of membership.
Although this statement comes late, and it seems to not matter, I found it fit to make a formal statement to the powers that be and the powers in need. Hereby, I Cole Tepper no longer count myself a member to the Hillel community of Moorpark College nor Ventura County and formally resign all membership and rights accordingly.

With that said, my best wishes to Max as the new president. Make Hillel have a strong presence. I must say that you have a long way to go, to grow, after having seen an official institution. I recommend estabilishing tight alliances and understandings with the AS community at Moorpark College to further the needed Agendas. Saul is providing you resources, but, the system is holding those resources back by limiting you. The AS, from my understanding, is the answer.
At my current school, San Diego State, both the Associated Students and the Fraternitys(represented by several councils) have great power over the sway of money usage, time usage, location, and rights. They've made it possible for Hillel to thrive there.
How thriving is Hillel SDSU? So strong that there were atleast 300 people in attendence at the climax of a "welcome back" bbq. They hold every-other-week shabbat dinner for FREE, with the Chabad center taking the spare fridays there(and I believe even the fridays Hillel holds Shabbos). A good portion of people come, some all the way from a distance equal to driving from Agoura or Calabasas over to Simi Valley on the 101 & 23. Every monday, there are free bagels served at noon at a particularly scenic part of campus. There are weekly events such as coffee at the starbucks(4 throughout campus) and meetings at the Hillel house. Today was a trip to scenic Balboa Park, a beautiful area with awesome architecture and museums and gardens, where the freshmen that had joined would be getting a chance to meet eachother and have dinner and some frisbee stuff after a long week of school. There are even classes on jewish subjects, from religion to philosophy to rituals and bar mitzvahs and everything in between.
Not to make you feel bad, but, I feel inspired by what has been accomplished. Its a truly thriving group, and its only fair that you benefit in a similar manner. So do what you can, and make this group more than 4 people sitting around at noon every wednesday for 20 min. Make it FUN!
