I will truly miss this man! I had the most wonderful opportunity to play for him and his band back in May.

My high school was one of the last that Maynard played at. And after hearing him play I can't believe he is gone. He is truly a man of ledged. And he will be sorely missed.

I am very grateful and will forever be that I had and opportunity to meet and play for him and his band. And I'm sure the rest of Jazz 1 at Fond du Lac High School would have to agree with me.

You will be missed Maynard!

Me Too! He came and played at my high school 2 1/2 yrs. ago, and it was amazing! I play Bass Clar. and had just started the tenor sax, and wasn't sure if I wanted todo jazz, and then I heard this guy was coming and he did a perfoemance and helped our jazz band, and our jazz band jus played like they never did before and him & his band blew my mind! then I knew next year I was def. doing jazz. I'm so glad that for those couple of hours I got to hear a performance of a lifetime! So tahnks Maynard for everthing you've done! Your presence on this planet will truly be missed!

I saw Maynard two years ago next month at Arkansas State in Jonesobor.

I took a copy of PRIMAL SCREAM in vinyl but Maynard slipped out for a LONG ride to the next venue before I could get it signed. I DID get the signatures of several of the band memembers. When they looked at the band on it they were SHOCKED at all the famous folks who'd been on that album with Maynard Ferguson.

JUST TODAY I was listening to Chicago and STREET PLAYER. DAMN it's hard to believe he's gone.

Yah...Maynard did the same for us. He had us open his concert! I was so excited and thrilled to play for him! Especially after hearing him during his sound check, i was just totally blown away by this man.

He was so nice. He really cared about us kids. It is one experience that i will never forget!

i never got to go see him live, but a friend of mine has a video of one of his concerts, and its freaking awesome.
i wish i could've gone to go see him, but money was really tight.

i was watching the video, and i got emotional, but what really hit me the hardest was the very end w/ the trumpet on the stand w/ no one around. thats still pretty hard to believe. it still just feels like a dream.

Our local high school in Manchester, Connecticut hosted a Maynard Ferguson concert in April of 2006. It was an electric night. It gave me a much deeper appreciation of Jazz and how one man loved to play his trumpet.
Even my 14 year old son, who is more into the "hard rock" scene, was mesmerized by his playing.
He will truly be missed.

I had the opportunity to see him play on valentines day 6 years ago. His music is amazing and he will be missed by everyone that adored him.

Definitely one of the biggest influences in my life starting when I was a young child til now. I got to see him live six times, and get to personally meet him and I am very fortunate for that. Although he is gone from this world, his soul and music lives on.

Maynard introduced me to jazz via "Live at Jimmy’s" and PBS specials I caught in the 1970’s.
Nothing can make me feel it like, "The Fox Hunt".

I was fortunate to meet Maynard a couple of times and do the "fan girl thing" and get a picture of him with me.

I will always treasure those photos. God bless Maynard Ferguson.

We need more like him.
