I use what I have and what I can get without spending an arm and leg... the gas tank already got both

I use Paintshop Pro 6 for coloring, Gimp for making black backrounds and turbo CAD for the lines... yes it's sort of an involved process...

What I really like is program capable of bending words...

that is to say
What I would really like next is a program that can bend words to any size and shape I need.

I use Paint Shop Pro 7, Fractal Explorer and Bryce 5. I have Poser 5 and Photoshop, but haven't really had time to get into them yet.

OS is Windows XP.

I haven't really found anything I'd like to change in the programs I use. I do need a new scanner though as I'm using my son's HP all-in-one and I hate it after having my trustworthy Acer for so long, but it wasnt' compatible with WinXP. :(

Fractal Explorer is free (best price!) and I love it!

Images created from Fractal Explorer can be used for commercial purposes. :)

I use PSP 7, because I can't afford anything newer..

I downloaded GIM because my computer has difficulty handling 10x10 resolution images at 200DPI, and gimp supposedly is able to (as far as it's own memory usage goes) work with SECTIONS of the design at a time, so I felt it would be better on my PC...
Unfortunately GIMP tells me it cannot open my PSP files.. calls them PSP 6 files.
(does anyone with PSP 7 and Gimp have this problem or is able to do this successfully)

Since I was disgusted at that error, I haven't really tried Gimp again yet..

Someone suggested zoner Draw (free) for working with Vectors... but I haven't tried it much yet either..

I just downloaded the Fractal Explorer from the above link...

I may play with that tonight when I get sick of working, but don't have time to play a game.

I use Photoshop CS (no I am not rich.. I bought Photoshop 6 off ebay and then purchased the upgrade version - worked out to about half-price). I use DAZ|Studio (free) for almost all of my 3D art.

I also own Bryce 5.5 (3D landscape) and Hexagon (3d object modelling) but likewise, haven't gotten into them yet. Poser 6 is on my wishlist and am currently saving my pennies. Prior to getting my copy of CS I used the GIMP - which is okay for the price. ;)

I just use one. I use Photoshop. I can't remember which version is on the computer I currently use. But, it's what I use for all my text only images, and it's how I color anything else I do. A few of my really old shops have images done in Paint Shop Pro 5, but I don't use that much anymore right now.

I use the programs that came with my computer ( microsoft publisher and microsoft picture it premium)

What I would like is a program that would let you cut a canvis (for a project) to any shape you desired. maybe that's out there, but I would like it if I could make some odd shaped designs without the rectangle (or curcle) background canvis.

Every picture created is square or rectangular.

Can the programs you use do transparent?

If so, any picture you create can *seem* any shape you want...

For example, My ribbon designs under 'awareness' SEEM ribbon-shaped... but are rectangles. :)
Transparent canvases, with a shaped opaque design.

My Designs

Other than that, If you want a new, probably better program, but dirt cheap...

I do almost all of my work in PaintShopPro 7.

Yes, it's very old.

But I have 9 too, and prefer 7. :)

have a look here PSP 7 on Ebay for very little.

out of the first ones I saw on that list, if I were going to buy one, it'd probably be this one.
No box, but has extras... and if they are honest enough to say no box, I tend to think better of the seller that their other facts are straight. :)

If you have a buck or 2 more, you might do better starting with PSP 8, however, as I understand there was a HUGE change in the way the program functioned between the two... If I'd started with 8, I might like 9 better... but I can't figure out how to use it. :)

I didn't look on ebay for psp 8... but it's actually pretty cheap on amazon.. (where I didn't look for 7)
PSP 8 on Amazon

I hope all this helps. :)

Now, I'm sure other programs, like Adobe Illustrator, perhaps, blow PSP out of the water... But *I* don't have a spare $500.00. :)
