Ok, 20 years later and there are still songs that I hear that immediately remind me of Einstein's. In fact, there are a good number that I've spent the last 20 years trying to collect. I can list an easy 50 on my own but I'll stick to one and see what else everyone else puts up.

"In and Out of Grace" by Mudhoney. This was a speaker dance endurance test. But the opening sample of "..we wanna be free to ride our machines and not be hassled by the man....and we wanna get loaded." always brought us running to the dance floor to see who could hang in there.

I actually have a playlist on my Ipod called Einstein A Go Go. It has every song I could remember flailing around to between 88 and 93.

Off the top of my head,

Ministry - Stigmata
Mudhoney - Touch Me I'm Sick
Tones On Tail - Go
Bollocks Brothers - Harley Davidson (son of a bitch)
Sonic Youth - Kool Thing
Fugazi - Margin Walker
Smiths - How Soon Is Now (and a million others)
Pop Will Eat Itself - Touched By The Hand Of Cicciolina
Janes Addiction - Stop
Any Depeche Mode, NIN, New Order etc...

Just stumbled across this site -- lots of great memories. Hi Tammie, Terry ; )

I have to say that my ultimate Einstein's playlist is based more on the live events that I saw over the years, and the songs that trigger those memories. Here's a few off the top of my head:

"Life Is Grand" by Camper Van Beethoven -- they were a couple of songs into their set when someone ran into the power pole outside the club and all the lights went out. So they sat down on the stage, candles were lit, and they played an acoustic set.

"Daktari" by 10, 000 Maniacs -- Natalie Merchant spinning, spinning spinning. So much energy.

"Jane Says" by Jane's Addiction -- Perry Ferrell, with dreadlocks, alternately throwing popcorn in the air on the beach and covering his head to protect his nest of hair when the seagulls swooped down. And cleaning up the dressing room afterwards.

"Closer To Fine" by Indigo Girls -- who are these women and why am I sitting with ten other people listening to them? Nice harmonies, but they are going nowhere. I'll be in my car if you need me.

"Stray" by Fetchin Bones -- makes me think of Hope and her magical trunk of percussionistic goodies, and all of the enormous potential that was mismanaged by their label.

"Cult of Personality" by Living Colour -- makes me think of the extreme racism that still exists. Einstein's was the only club in Florida that would book a rock band with black people. Boy did they rock though.

Any Replacements song: Bob Stinson. Pantyhose. Enough said.

"Stupid Kids" by Christmas -- antagonizing the bar across the street with their rendition of "Sweet Home Alabama", complete with a chorus of "Neener neeener neener".

"Get On The Bus" by Royal Crescent Mob -- dancing my ass off until I was absolutely exhausted.

I've got a million of 'em, but I don't have the time and no one has the patience to read it anyway ; ) If you remember me, feel free to email me!
