Yes it is a Monday night, but come on down and see how the basement's been treating him (its like his personal woodshed) LOL!
Its been a while since Andrew has been in town, and hes looking forward to see his pals
Musician, Renaissance man, and lover of life at large, jazz and roots man Andrew Burden seems to almost evade musical and logical definition due to his far-reaching influences, his eclectic style, and his multi-faceted abilities in many styles of sound. When delivering his own unique brand of music via any one of his arsenal of musical instruments, whether trombone, baritone horn, sousaphone, upright bass, guitar and of course his voice, Burdens burden, as well as that of his listeners, are made ethereal turned to notes of joy, sometimes of despair, and passed into the atmosphere.
With comparisons in style and sound to the likes of Tom Waits, Screamin Jay Hawkins, Hank Williams, and the drunken fellla at your cousins bar mitzvah, his emotive inflections will suit perfectly that sleet-hammered cold January night, or that sweet-scented hazy July afternoon. With his ability to belt out a chord with the best of them in contrast to his low-key lullaby vocals, Andrews range strikes the chords of all hearts it meets.
No stranger to the dramatic in life, having rag-tagged the city streets for nickels and dimes, swung low in the sleaziest gin joints around, traveled many a path beaten by those beatific in their beat-itude, Burdens physical stage presence plays him as the fortune teller, the fool, the poet, the peasant, the killer, and the king!
Currently the front man for the old time hokum jazz band The Golden Wedding Band, he holds down fort on vocals, bone, scat, and whatever other mayhem he can handle. His list of people with whom he has shared a stage and a band is as impressive as it is a list of the whos who of Vancouver roots music. He has played with college jazz chart-toppers and Northern Electric Recording artists Ronnie Artur and His Orkestrio, internationally acclaimed and Nettwerk recording artists The Be Good Tanyas, and local heroes such as The Buzzards, The Plough Boys and The Lowbrows.
