Well if you are going to be on Koh Samui first you can go to Cactus Bar on Bophut Beach the guy that runs the place is Jaques and his brother or friend I can't remember which runs a dive school out of Samui on Tao.....you can send them an inquire through this site http://www.r24.org/kohsamui.org/samui/cactus/reservation/

I did my OW and Advanced on Koh Tao and loved every minute... I even saw a whale shark on my 2nd advanced dive, it was AMAZING! My sister and I certified with Crystal Dive and ended up staying there at the Crystal Resort for another month after we finished b/c we liked it so much.
You can go here and check them out- http://www.crystaldive.com/
The instructors are all really fun, and cool and we had a great time getting to know most of them during the month we were there. Let me know if you have any more questions, I'd be more than willing to answer...
Good luck,
Mads
ps. maybe I'll see you there since I am bringing my family out to Koh Tao in 2 weeks, SO excited

I really liked Big Blue, the place is great, nice and clean and right on the water. The teachers are also great, they take their time with you and make sure you know what you are doing, they also have really small groups, when I was diving there was only me and on other girl! It is right in the mid of Sairee Beach too so everything is near by!

Good Luck and have fun!

I was at the same bay, in Big Bubble Dive Shop, I can recommed you to go there; its such a beautiful view, no matter over or under the water. There are so many nice party people, laid back atmosphere and maybe you should go to Babaloo Bar. Oh I miss that place so much! I hope you will have fun there!!

I always use new way diving. Very small operation with a great set of staff, and small groups. I dive in a lot of places and new way is one of my favorite operators.

My wife and I stayed with the beach resort, which was part of Easy Divers. They seemed pretty economical and we had a great time. 4-5 people in group. One dive they took 6 of us with two DMs. Then we split up half way in the dive. Kind of confusing. That was my only complaint. Everything else was great.
Feel free to email.

Im going to Koh Tao in two week, not a very good season though but i will have 3 days to spend there cause it will be a long weekend. however i never learn how to dive and i really really want to. So what i wanna do is take the first half of the diving course here in Bangkok cause i dont want to waste my time study the basic theore in the room while i will be next to the sea. Then go take the second half course in Koh Tao.
Anybody know the diving shop that i can learn here in Bkk and in Koh Tao?
Have you ever heard about 'Thipwiman Resort'? Will stay there, is it a good idea?
Is it necessary to book the boat to go to Koh Tao in advance?
Thanks in advance for the advise...
