my favorite is my favorite is Prisoner of Azkaban
Alfonso Cuaron is by far the best director of the Harry Potter films. His prior works include the wonderful Y tu Mama Tambien, a great version of "The Little Princess" and the hip ’98 version of Great Expectations.
I think a lot of people trashed his Potter film because they didn’t take into account the fact that the third book was longer and more convoluted than the first two books. Of course he had to leave more out... far more happens in POA then in the first two books. He handled it admirably though, the story, even with it’s time travel and twists and turns was easy to follow. His editing was far smoother than the first two and his location shots were far more enigmatic and evocative than any of Chris Columbus’.
I think the reason so many people dislike Cuaron’s POA is because it was far more mature and well-crafted than the first two films. In other words, it was TOO good. People were disappointed because they actually had to think... and because the third film was very, very dark.
I really wish they’d bring Cuaron back... at least then the Potter films could be both entertaining and artful.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone/the Sorcerer’s Stone.
I do love the Chamber of Secrets and the Prisoner of Azkaban as well!
I like the others but not as much. The OOTP was cool though! Umbridge & Luna were so much like the characters in the books, some of the other characters don’t really play their roles properly...

To me they all were great! I like differnt thing in them all! So it makes it more hard for me to chose. I think it’s a tie between the Prisoner of Azkaban, and the Order of the Phoenix! For some reason I was not the bigest fan of the Half-Blood Prince

My favorites are the first three because although each film took several things that we as fans of the books love, I felt that the story was not lost because of the changes. I realize that The Goblet of Fire is a lot bigger and it continues to stay that way... but I just stick to the books for 4-6.
Someone please elaborate on how the film of HBP follows the closest to the book. SOMEONE please clarify this for me. Because by all means, it didn’t. It focused on... oh just come on! HBP and OOTP delivered the least in terms of plot and remaining faithful to the book. You know the books right? The book is the actual story, the film is the adaptation. I’m tired of people thinking that the films are better, or that they came "first".
