Not even a little bit. But I am also curious to see if the democrats on here are for it or opposed to it or somewhere in between.

What I find quite interesting about this whole issue is the fact that …none if the people who think it’s a bad idea seem to have medical issues or challenges…
I personally think that it’s the best thing that could happen…for example…as it stands …each time you change jobs you have to change healthcare providers…sooooo…if you have a government option then you will always have the same doctors or chose a different one if you like …as well as not having to worry about losing health coverage if you are unemployed…it would be tied to your unemployment Im sure…and whats wrong with that again? oh we dont want to push out the public sector...and why not if its failing?...
For all of the people crying for no change in the current system…I ask that you stop paying your insurance and see how fast the healthcare comes to the rescue…this is not that hard…but again another way to divide people…

Considering we have socialized other essential needs, such as the police force, army(duh), education(even on the college level there is government programs to help pay your way through college rather than relying on the free market), I can’t see how Medical care isn’t socialized. It should be a good thing to give, a healthy workforce is a efficient workforce right? Plus, all other western nations have some form of a National health system, heck we provide one for Iraq and Afghanistan with the war money.

Reguardless of that, I am glad there will be some form of healthcare reform, but relying on the freemarket just because we’ve always done it isn’t a wise idea, some things need to change for the betterment of the future.

I Absolutely agree...but the funny thing is...people are saying that the President isn’t doing enough...um he is one man, and what the hell is he surrounded by senators and congressmen for?...DO YOUR JOBS!..if we don’t get it, it won’t be because of the President believe me...he has one vote....

my main reason against this is i do not want the goverment to say yes or no to what care i get. plus ask canada or eourpe how the goverment run health care is working for them. it sucks, its the last thing this country needs.

Umm this list doesn’t have anything to do with the health care one receives. This list is the average age of death in a country, you will see we are only 3 years different of the 1 spot. Perhaps healthcare plays a part in that but so does diet, exercise, genetics, etc. Not the best source however.

Here is the source you are looking for.
http://www.photius.com/rankings/healthranks.html
It is from 2000 because they no longer chart these dut to the complexity. Anyways the United States is ranked 37 out of 190. The countries with Universal Health Care with even half our population are ranked towards the bottom of the list, the only countries that are ranked above us with UHC are those with less than 10% of our population. It doesn’t work for large populations. Not to mention it goes against what this country was founded on and what made this country great.

I noticed Canada, France, and the UK above the US. Thank you for proving my point.
