THEIR IS THIS PERSON WHO I KNOW AND IS ASKING ME IF HE SHOULD SWITCH OVER TO BLU RAY OR STAY WITH A STANDER DVD PLAYER. I SAY THAT HE SHOULD TAKE THE BIG STEP INTO THE BLU RAY EXPERIENCE.
BUT HE DOESN’T BELIEVE ME.

if he has a HD tv and a sound system capable of the HD sound, then yeah. Unless your pushin 1080p and DTS HD MASTER AUDIO, your not getting a huge upgrade over regular DVD. i copped a new sony HDMI receiver so im listenin to full HD audio along with 1080p, lovin it.

and the blurays are expensive, especially if your going to buy from retail stores where they are 25 usually. amazon is much cheaper so if your gonna buy blu, buy from then. they are usually 7 bucks cheaper then best buy

If you do get a blue ray make sure it has HDMI input nd outputs and if he is a gamer go with a Ps3. all in 1 player . gaming and movies.

Wow, since 3 years ago when I moved from DVD to HD DVD I felt in love with HD sound & picture, as we all know last year HD DVD lost the war against Blu Ray & so I had to move to Blu Ray, and I have no regrets at all, if you can actually afford it there’s no question about it you most move on to Blu Ray, even if you have an old home theatre the improvement is 100%, and if you have an HD tv then there’s nothing quite like it yet, I love my Blu Ray player & some of the stores offer really affordable tittles, Wallmart has a $10.00 seccion of Blu Rays & stores like Amoeba in Hollywood offer even cheaper used tittles, I 100% recomend Blu Ray to anybody who still haven’t got one.

Even on a 720P tv, bluray looks spectacular!

Just tell him to buy a PS3. It’s the fastest and most up-to-date and most powerful Blu-ray machine on the planet, and you can even buy games for it.

For $299, it’s a bargain.

There is no comparison between DVD and Blu-ray.Wal-mart now has the top rated Panasonic BD-30 for about $165.I pais almost $500 for the same player 2 years ago.
