I know you're just messing with us... there's one song I always liked but never knew the name. It starts on an A minor chord, the bass line goes down chromatically to an E chord. The opening lyrics are something like "I left the gate, cheerleader calling my name..." and a bunch of other lyrics I can't think of. You've been playing it at least since the Spring of '01...that's a cool one that I haven't heard a recorded version of.

Definately On A Saturday, as that's one of my favorite songs ever. And definately Bluebird, as it's such a beautiful look into your life.
I'll be sure to buy the album the first day it comes out :)

Hello,
What about "Sheila and Angie"? That was a great one. Everything that you have been posting lately has been a gem. Whatever it is that you do decide on, I am sure that it will shine.

Thanks for the suggestions folks.
It's good for me to get others perspectives
on this. It's been cool and suprising to see
some of these song ideas.
Even if I don't officially realease all of these,
I would like to set up a way for folks to
at least download songs that they fancy.
Send some more ideas!
Love,
Jacob

It seems that there are a lot of songs from the past that people (including myself) really love. On the other hand, it is also obvious that you are on a roll with your new material, which has been very inspiring if I might add.
Here's an idea...
There were two other amazing songwriters who found themselves in a similar situation, Billy Corgan and Noel Gallagher--both had an incredible amount of material with each album. For every single that was released for their latest album, they would include two or three unreleased tracks or b-sides. This did a couple of things...not only would each single be like a mini ep in and of itself, but the single and unreleased tracks were so consistently good that everyone wanted to pick them up. Especially with the case of Mr. Gallagher, the release of a single became a mini-event in and of itself.
I am not sure if any of this is feasible, but it was just a thought.

oh and what was that song with the baby imagery? some sort of womb thing happening :)) i'm sorry.... i don't remember the details. it was in the 'youth symphony" phase..... there was even a heartbeat thing maybe?? :) god i'm terrible.
i don't know.... i'm always one for new material from an artist. but letting all those 'old' songs die out would be a shame. they deserve to be listened to and adored. they don't even need to be fussed over. just gotten down. too many people have never heard those songs. so many people i've told myth-like stories to about the performances and material. it'd be great to finally share the music.
there's honestly not a song from orisha, ys, birthday, jacob that i wouldn't love to have a copy of. so maybe i should just say revisit those old set lists and don't hold it against the song for being born too soon :) they're timeless. as we all know :)
[and not AT ALL to say hold on to the past because what you're doing moment by moment is as exciting as ever].
Sounds like you're talking about "Pregnant to be"

don't know the title. but i remember some of the lyrics. "you take the little things, i love to admit. . . .until the secret falls out."
It's called "the things I love to admit" if I remember correctly...Cool song; the verse was in a beat of 7 (4+3) when Orisha did it but it got changed to a standard 4 (or 8...4+4 instead of 4+3) when the Youth Symphony took over the song.

Why it's so hard to find Jacob Golden's lyrics in the net? I want to read some of them, but I can't find anything. Most of all I want to read lyrics of "On a saturday", it's a great song! :)
