There are 1000 things that I can think of that are better for the world than going paperless. It will start with phone companies, and paying bills, and it will leak into newspapers and books. Cutting down trees is good for the earth, they offer us a wide range of products. Cutting down 100 trees and planting 0 is why it’s become such a problem. It’s also completely horrible when we cut down acres of land that were used by indigenous people and we pompously go about our day like it was nothing. Not having a conscious is a problem, don’t blame it on the paper!

Now, I may be getting ahead of myself, but it worried me because MySpace is used by so many people, and people are quick to follow the band wagon without even thinking if it’s good or not. (thats what this project is about, right, thinking before we act?)

Where would we be without paper? No printers, no scanners, no coupons, no books, no drawing paper, oh my gosh, this is getting out of control. I like Futurama and everything, Matt Groening is ahead of his time, but I don’t want to be linked to a computer all the time.

Especially when the internet isn’t avaliable in all parts of this country. West Virginia is back in the 80’s, and as far as they’re concerned they’ll stay there.

I watch recyling centers being shut down all over the state (WV). This is what i’m most concerned about at the time. I am an activist, and I will bring back recycling in West Virginia, to recycle the paper we have now, to recycle the plastics.

Here’s something WAY better than going paperless...

Lose the Plastics!!!!! Paper you can burn, rip, and it biodegrades like a million times faster than plastics. Who likes drinking out of plastic anyways? It’s disgusting and it’s threatening our well-being.

More Glass and Plant based products, Less Plastic, More Paper, Less brain damage on computers! Anyone with me?

i think i see you view on the good of paper. but i think what they mean by paperless is paying bills online. although you say cutting down trees is good and paper is biodegradable, there is still so much wasted paper in this world. consider how much junk mail you get per day. times that by a few million other ppl getting the same junk mail. what do you do with it? throw it away. many ppl dont recycle and if they can do something such as cut down the amount of mail they get by paying online, it helps with not only the amount of trees being cut down but the energy used to manufacture the mail, and to send the mail. there are other reasons for cutting down paper use. but on the note of plastic i agree 100 percent.

Indigenous people. Who are you talking about and what do you mean? I am an American. I was born here;thus, I am indigenous.

I agree with the second post on here. They mean "going paperless" by paying your bills online and not having your credit card bills sent to your house. It saves so much paper and energy when most people pay their bills online anyway even when the bills are sent to their house.

cutting back on plastic is a great idea and going more to glass I agree with.
I live in "Glass Town USA" and the glass plant regularly gets shut down and people lose their jobs because there’s not enough work for them.

as far as going paperless, using your computer to pay bills isn’t really a bad idea. It’s going to cut back on a lot of waste. And really, it’s easier to keep track of paid bills and faster to pay your bills this way as well.

I see where you’re coming from but I think they were mainly suggesting that we cut back on paper in terms of credit card bills, as they explained in the details.

Honestly, doing just that isn’t that hard and it would make for going to the mailbox a much more enjoyable experience.

I really don’t think their aim was to completely go paperless, that is a bit dramatic and very inconvenient.

I can’t believe all of you picked out one of the ideas of such minute importance.
It is absurd to be writing all this about an idea that is silly and boggles the mind.
But I put my two cents in and I plead guilty to diverting our attention to stupid
ideas, rather than some of the other issues the mean something.
I blogged before and it was removed. Does someone not like real ideas?

Like peace. Like Myspace becoming the place for transformation in the world
to occur.
