This is the thread devoted to the debate that
SkepDick and
Steve-O have agreed to undertake after much discussion. The resolution to this debate is:
"Is Theistic or Atheistic Morality Better for Humanity?"
SkepDick will be arguing in favor of Atheistic Morality while Steve-O will be arguing in favor of Theistic Morality. They will submit their opening statements concurrently and according to the schedule below.
The
rules of the debate are as follows:
1. This is a civil debate - there will be no insult hurling.
2. Unfamiliar terms will be defined upon request.

terms of the debate are as follows:
1. Opening Statement - 2,000 to 4,000 words - 11:00 pm EST 12/23/05
2. First Rebuttal - 2,000 word maximum 11:00 pm EST 12/27/05
3. Second Rebuttal - 2,000 word maximum 11:00 pm EST 12/29/05
4. Closing Statement - 1,000 to 1,500 words 11:00 pm EST 01/01/06
Additionally after the debate:
The Moderator will select a number of appropriate questions, equal in number, to ask the two participants of the debate. These questions will come from the participants of the comments thread and from the Moderator.
